INTERESTING FACTS 
·        Open at top closed at base. Provide habitat for many other species of invertebrates (including crabs, shrimp and reef fishes)
·         Most primitive animals on earth
·        Existed for at least 500 million years
·        The unique ways of eating: food will be digested through each cell individually. To make sure that the food can reach the bottom of the body, they needs moving water. Waste will be removed from top of the body into water
·        When sandy or dirty water : it will partially close the pores to avoid any sand or dirt coming insides of body
·        Skeletons : made up of spicules, proteins and collagens
·        Body contain spores known as ostia
·        The adults sessile while larva are free
·        Do not have nervous system
·        Most are hermaphrodites : function as both males and females
·        Sponge gamete arise from amoebocytes
·        Known as suspension feeders
